This classic handbook Macleod’s Clinical Examination intends to aid doctors in developing the consultation skills necessary to obtain a complete history, as well as the practical abilities necessary to recognize clinical symptoms of diseases. To enhance comprehension, the physical foundation of clinical symptoms is discussed wherever feasible. The process of developing a differential diagnosis from the gathered data is presented, as are the logical starting investigations for each system. The first section of the book discusses the broad concepts of effective patient engagement, from collecting a history and doing an examination to using pattern recognition to discover spot diagnoses. The second section details the pertinent history, examination, and investigations for each of the body’s key systems. Several new chapters have been added, including one on patients with mental illnesses and another on how to approach a patient who is declining.
