Alif

Alif follows Qalb-e-Momin, a successful filmmaker, and Momina Sultan, an actress struggling to get work, whose paths cross through calligraphy and a search for where they came from.

Alif is the first letter of the alphabet, and in the novel it stands for the oneness of God and the beginning of any real spiritual life. Umera Ahmed sets the glare of the film industry against something quieter and older, and asks which of the two a person can actually live inside.
